Thauma Energy Projects (TEP) is a 100% black female owned company operating in the Renewable energy Sector. We produce and sell biodiesel which is an alternative and environmentally friendly fuel manufactured from biodegradable waste and sell it as a B5 Blend which is a combination of (5% biodiesel and 95% of petroleum diesel) in line with the SANS 342 which allows a maximum biodiesel content of 5% (B5).

B5 is approved for use by most diesel automobile , truck manufacturers and any other compression-ignition engines that are designed to be operated on petroleum diesel without requiring any modification to the engine. Biodiesel is not only affordable when compared to petroleum diesel, it is good for our environment as it reduces the Greenhouse Gas Emission and provides lubricity which reduces friction within the moving parts of the engine avoiding additional wear.

Thauma Energy is working together with the CSIR through NCPC-SA are Bio-Services laboratory for testing each and every batch that we produce for compliance. Can we please add this line tomorrow latest as people will be visiting the site and both the CSIR and Bio-Services laboratory are reputable

Description of the Business

Every batch that we produce is tested by an accredited laboratory using SANS 1935 Specification as the reference to ensure compliance before it can be sold to the customers. We sell the biodiesel as a blended B5, however customers are also able to buy pure biodiesel i.e. 100% biodiesel and blend on their own. Customers are encouraged to strictly comply with SANS 342 when blending for themselves and ensure that both the biodiesel and the petroleum diesel are well mixed and circulated together to ensure that the resultant product is a B5 blend.

Profile of Director

The company is 100% black female owned. Ontlametse Khwene, the sole director of the company is a Renewable and Electrical Energy Specialist with over 18 years of experience in the energy sector. Ontlametse’s highest qualification is Master of Business Administration (MBA), and she holds both Electrical Engineering and Construction Management degrees including Project Management. She is professionally registered with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) and the South African Council for the Project and Construction Management Professions (SACPCMP). Ontlametse is also a committee member of VisionAfric Development Power and Energy committee.
